Topic of the thesis: How generative Artificial Intelligence changes work: Applying the task-based approach in the digital platform labour
Abstract: Artificial intelligence is developing rapidly and is expected to change the way of work. The mainstream theory in labour economics predicts that the repetitive tasks will be automated and new labour-intensive tasks will be created, but to date there is a lack of studies in this change in the context of real-life labour processes. This proposed research will apply the theory to the digital platform labour. A mixed methods approach comprised of difference-in-difference, topic modelling, interviews will be adopted to study how AI changes the task content of production. This study can contribute to the literature by providing a more complete understanding of the theoretrical foundations through empirical tests. There are also potential policy implications regarding reskilling and upskilling.
