Topic of thesis: "Sharia implementation in Northern Nigeria 1999-2008. Why a variable application?" My thesis intends to comprehend why the Islamic law was implemented since 1999 in twelve of the thirty-six states of the Nigerian Federation according to different patterns.

Research interests: Religion in Africa, in particular Islam; the implementation of Islamic law in multi-faith/ethnic contexts, conflict resolution and human rights, peacekeeping and cooperation in development countries. Countries of primary research: Algeria, Nigeria and Sudan.
