Topic of thesis: Scarce effectiveness of EU Structural Funds. Trade-off between equity (balanced development and spatial equity) and efficiency (national catching-up) arising from the implementation of EU Cohesion Policy (mainly from the financing of transportation infrastructures) and attempts to invert wealth's polarization trend without damaging EU and national overall growth rates by shifting the focus of EU Cohesion Policy. Geographic components in the forces driving agglomeration processes. Effects of regional policies on industrial geography, regional income disparities and growth.
