Topic of thesis: Geostrategy of Climate Change: the United States Perspective in the Post-Bipolar System.
Abstract: This research proposal points to trace the United States geopolitical and geostrategic scenario stemming from the impact that climate change is having on global environment. Rising temperatures, provoking melting of ice and drought among others, are altering the environment, provoking massive impacts on national assets and causing (or intensifying) international threats, reshaping geopolitical concepts such as sea routes or territorial invulnerability. The research proposal will analyze foreign policy prospects, focusing on geopolitical mapping of interests and threats and then providing an insight into scenarios of military strategy. Drawing on the ongoing debate within United States security circles, a holistic approach will be adopted in order to achieve the objectives of the research.
