Topic of the thesis: Gen Z and news consumption: social media, media trust and information in the Italian hybrid media environment
Abstract: This research project aims to investigate the news consumption habits of Generation Z (born between 1996 and 2012) within the Italian hybrid media environment. Gen Z, often referred to as "digital natives," is the first generation to grow up with the Internet and social media as integral parts of their lives, a disruptive innovation that is deeply influencing their relationship with news consumption and perception. The project seeks to explore how this cohort interacts with news, considering the complex interplay of historical, cultural, social, and technological factors that define generational experiences. By exploring these dynamics, the research addresses a significant gap in current literature, particularly within the Italian context, providing insights into how Gen Z's media behaviour impacts the broader media landscape.
