Topic of the thesis: Does equality matter? Assessing the impact of gender equality on family formation and dissolution. (Social inequalities and demographic change).
Abstract: In the past century, most Western societies have experienced a rapid change in family demography, characterized by unstable relationships and a drastic drop in fertility rates. Changes in family dynamics have substantially challenged European welfare systems, and many countries are highly concerned about their fertility levels and divorce rates. Does gender (in)equality have an impact on demographic behaviors and family dynamics? Linking micro and macro level, and taking into account several dimensions of inequality, my PhD thesis will bring novel insights to the existing research on the impact of gender equality on family formation and dissolution.
