SOMET Conference on Poverty & Inequalities | 27/05/2025

The NASP PhD program in Sociology and Methodology of Social Research (SOMET) is glad to announce the

Conference

Poverty & Inequality.
Fostering Dialogue Between Academia and the Local Context

27 May 2025, h. 9:30-18:00
Room A | NASP Graduate School
University of Milan
Via Pace, 10 - Milan
and on ZOOM

The event, organized by the SOMET PhD students of the 39th cohort, will center on the themes of poverty and inequality, examined in their various dimensions. Its primary objective is to establish a bridge between institutions and the academic sphere, fostering dialogue and the co-construction of a shared, interconnected vision that provides meaningful opportunities for all.
The program will open with a keynote speech by Professor Sandro Busso, followed by two roundtable discussions: the morning session will address issues related to welfare, active labor market policies, and anti-poverty strategies; the afternoon session will focus on migration and inequalities, featuring local case studies from different regions.
The day will conclude with an interactive session — a participatory exercise retracing a migration route, designed to offer a moment of collective reflection in a more informal context.

The event will be held in Italian
