
Topic of the thesis: Leaving home in the UK: housing conditions, area of residence and real estate values.
Abstract: The research will investigate whether and how housing conditions and the local context of origin can influence the timing and the way out of young people leaving parental home in the case study of UK. It will also focus to the role of the local housing market and how real estate values have effects on the likelihood of leaving home. Quantitative and qualitative methods will be combined. Quantitative analysis will be used to observe how the timing and ways out of parental home change according to individual, family and territorial context characteristics. In this case, it is about the local housing and real estate of young people. In a second step, qualitative research will be used to develop how the role of the housing market perceived for young people who have to leave their family of origin and for those have already left it. It will further investigate whether and how housing conditions and local area of residence can influence the leaving home of young adults.
