Topic of thesis: Experiences of self organized LGBTQ* communities of care and living in contemporary Europe
Abstract: In my theses I want to engage with the potential transformational power of the social and living spaces which are self organized by LGBTQ* people, particularly looking at care practices. LGBTQ* older people often face discrimination and/or lack of visibility in caring spaces which are inevitably embedded in normative logics of relationships (e.g heterosexuality and dichotomy care worker/cared for) and therefore reproduce normative ideas of care, sexualities, bodies. In autonomous and self organized care spaces, older LGBTQ people challenge these sexual, gender, care identities and, through the community-building practice, make visible new set of needs, identities, practices which potentially can transform care spaces and living arrangements for older people.
