Topic of the thesis: Life at Conception, Death by Execution: The Clash Between Anti-Abortion and Pro-Death Penalty Stances in the United
Abstract: This study investigates the complex and paradoxical correlation between anti-abortion and pro-death penalty attitudes in the United States. Through a quantitative methodology, it first conducts a comparative analysis at the state level for all 50 states, followed by an individual-level examination. The study reveals a significant inverse correlation: states with strict anti-abortion laws often strongly support the death penalty. The research delves into the underlying reasons for these seemingly contradictory positions, focusing on political orientation, religious beliefs, and educational attainment as key factors.
