Topic of the thesis: Why has the Europe Union, through the PESCO Framework, begun development of military space capacities in the form of space-based ballistic missile early warning systems, military use of the Galileo global navigation satellite system (GNSS), and military space situational awareness (SSA) projects?

Abstract: This thesis looks to explain why the European Union and its member states have chosen to expand their military capacities, both in a collective manner and in a new security environment. It looks to determine the balance of power within the international system between Europe and its potential rivals, in addition to exploring the strategic cultures of the Union itself, its key member states in the realm of space security, and the leader images of the decision makers involved in this new path.
