Radosław Markowski is Chair of the Center for the Study of Democracy at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Head of the Comparative Politics Department at the Polish Academy of Sciences. Previously, he was vice-rector of the Collegium Civitas. He is a member of the American Political Science Association and the European Consortium for Political Research. He is also a board member of the Stefan Batory Foundation. He is co-editor of political science and sociological journals, including the "European Journal of Political Research", "Political Studies", "European Union Politics", among other. He sits on the advisory board of the Center for Social Opinion Research (CBOS) as a representative of the Prime Minister. In 2011, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for "academic achievements".
His research interests range from Theories of democracy, Party systems and electoral behavior, to Models of and the quality of democracy, Civic and political participation, Democratic innovations, Social movements.
