The Project:
Since the beginning of 2012, the Graduate School in Social and Political Studies of the University of Milan, with the financial support of the Compagnia di San Paolo Fundation, has been working to an ambitious project of a new inter-University and international doctoral School, which involves a network of Universities and research institutions in the North of Italy and several individual distinguished professors, scholars and non-academic experts in the fields of social and political studies.
Among the members of this network (called NASP – Network for the Advancement in Social and Political Studies) there are, together with the University of Milan, the University of Turin and the Collegio Carlo Alberto of Turin, the Universities of Piemonte Orientale, Genoa, Milan-Bicocca, Pavia and Brescia. Individual scholars from the Catholic University of Milan, Bocconi University, and from the Universities of Val D'Aosta, Bologna and Bergamo are involved in the project as well.
The objective of NASP is to offer students from Europe and all over the world an advanced training in political and sociological disciplines by creating a centre of excellence that allows its member universities and institutions to concentrate resources, create synergies and exploit economies of scale.
In the long run, NASP project aims to build up a new doctoral School that will offer Ph.D. programmes in Economic Sociology and Labour Studies, Political Studies, and Sociology and Methodology of Social Research.
